Historically, Internet sites were built for external users to consume passive content. Now, there is an added ability for internal contributors to provide managed content. We present customer case studies and demonstrate how the X design pattern provides the ability for internal users and external Web users to act as both contributors and consumers. The key to this functionality is in the middle where the process flow can be managed in both directions, mashed-up, manipulated, and analyzed. We introduce you to the CorasWorks Solution, which is a toolset that extends Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 to enable organizations to accomplish this without requiring custom code development.
