How do I use it?"

To use the Lira Currency Symbol Converter, simply download the tool from Windows Update or Microsoft.com Download Center, close all other applications and run the tool. The tool will run in silent mode and will update the currency symbol automatically. No dialog boxes will be presented and no notification of success will appear. Setup extracts files under Program Files\LiraConv folder, and adds the link to Start – Programs – Accessories – System Tools menu for later use.

To run the tool in help mode you must type liraconv in a command window (DOS prompt). If the tool is in help mode, a brief explanation of the tool will be presented. After clicking “Continue” you will be notified if any updates have been made on your machine or if any errors have occurred. In the event that none of the accounts are set to the Turkish locale, you will be notified that no updates have been made.

The default mode will be used when no flags (-s for silent or -h for help) are used. Simply clicking on the tool or typing liraconv into the command window will run the tool in its default mode. The default mode will display the end user license agreement (EULA). Read the EULA carefully and, if you accept the terms of the agreement, check the “Accept the License Agreement” box and then click continue. The tool will then update the relevant currency symbol automatically and will notify you of the update when it has finished.

The tool will always update the current user if the locale is set to Turkish. The tool will also attempt to update the system accounts (system, local and network service) if they are set to the Turkish locale. Finally, the tool will attempt to update the default user account if its locale is set to Turkish.

Note that the tool will run successfully if any of the above system accounts are set to the Turkish locale even if the current user locale is set to any other but the Turkish locale. Only if none of the above accounts are set to Turkish, including the current user account, will the tool inform you that no updates have been made.

If you are a system administrator and wish to apply this update to all user profiles, you should do so by including the tool in the user’s log-in script. If you choose not to do so, all other users with a profile on the machine need to run this tool from the Start – Programs – Accessories – System Tools menu.
